Cape Cod ferry timetable
Seven passenger ferry routes connect Cape Cod, Boston and the islands: Hyannis, Harwich Port and Falmouth to Nantucket and Oak Bluffs, Boston and Plymouth to Provincetown, and the inter-island ferry between Nantucket and Oak Bluffs. Choose a route and date to see the departures with operator and arrival time, and switch the direction for the way back.
Reading the timetable
The live board above covers the seven passenger routes on this site. Pick the route, then the date; the direction switch shows the sailings back. The departures come from the booking feed, and your booking confirmation is the authoritative source for your own sailing.
From Hyannis to Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard
Hyannis is the busiest ferry port on the Cape. Hy-Line's Nantucket ferry runs all year, with the most departures between late June and Labor Day and a thinner schedule in winter. The Oak Bluffs ferry to Martha's Vineyard sails May through October, three to four times a day.
From Harwich Port and Falmouth
Freedom Cruise Line sails from Harwich Port to Nantucket once a day from Memorial Day weekend to Columbus Day weekend, out in the morning and back in the afternoon. The Island Queen in Falmouth is the short crossing to Oak Bluffs: 35 minutes, from late May to mid-October, with up to seven departures a day in summer.
Provincetown from Boston and Plymouth
Boston Harbor City Cruises runs the fast ferry from Long Wharf to Provincetown from mid-May to mid-October: one morning departure in spring and autumn, a second afternoon sailing in summer. Captain John Boats sails from Plymouth to Provincetown in season, out at 09:00 and back in the late afternoon.
Between the islands
Hy-Line's inter-island ferry connects Nantucket and Oak Bluffs directly in about 70 minutes, three times a day in season. It is the only ferry between the two islands.
Before you travel
Each operator sets its own arrival deadline, from 15 minutes on the Island Queen to 45 minutes at Hy-Line in Hyannis. Bring your booking confirmation and, for parking at the off-site lots in Hyannis, allow time for the shuttle to the pier. In bad weather the fast ferries can be cancelled at short notice; the operator will contact you about the next available sailing.
FAQ timetable
Timetable questions
Questions about departures and planning.
Which route has the most sailings? +
Hyannis - Nantucket with Hy-Line Cruises. It is the only route in this timetable that runs all year, and in summer it has the most departures of any Cape Cod ferry. The route page has the details.
How early do I need to be at the pier? +
Hy-Line asks passengers to arrive at least 45 minutes before departure in Hyannis, Boston Harbor City Cruises 30 minutes before the Provincetown ferry leaves Long Wharf. The Island Queen in Falmouth needs 30 minutes at busy times and 15 minutes otherwise.
What if no departure shows for my date? +
An empty result usually means the route is out of season or the next schedule period has not reached the live feed yet. Check a neighbouring day or the operator's own timetable, which is linked on each operator page.
Can I see the ferries back from the islands? +
Yes. Pick the route, then use the direction switch to see the sailings back to the mainland. The return departures for each route are also listed on the route page.
Are the car ferries in this timetable? +
No. This timetable shows the passenger ferries sold through this site. The Steamship Authority car ferries from Woods Hole and Hyannis are described on the Steamship Authority page with a link to its own timetable.
