What a Cape Cod ferry costs
The fare depends on the route, the operator, whether you book one way or round trip, and the age of each passenger. The short Vineyard crossings from Falmouth and Hyannis sit at the lower end, the long fast ferries to Nantucket from Harwich Port and to Provincetown from Boston at the upper end. The booking step shows the price for your sailing; the live from-prices above follow the booking feed.

Provincetown: Boston or Plymouth?
Boston Harbor City Cruises advertises its Provincetown fast ferry from 89 dollars, Captain John Boats in Plymouth from 59 dollars for the 2026 season. The Boston ferry leaves from Long Wharf in the city centre and takes about 95 minutes; Plymouth is a 90-minute crossing from a smaller harbour south of Boston. If you start in Boston, the fare difference buys you the downtown departure.
Parking fees at the ports
Parking is the fare's hidden second half at the mainland ports, so budget for it:
- Hyannis, Hy-Line: the on-site lot at 220 Ocean Street costs 10 to 30 dollars a day by season, the off-site lots on Iyannough Road and Brooks Road 5 to 20 dollars a day, with a free shuttle to the pier in season.
- Falmouth, Island Queen: 20 dollars per calendar day, cash only, 200 yards from the pier.
- Harwich Port, Freedom Cruise Line: free day parking at Saquatucket Harbor; overnight parking is possible.
All parking fees are the operators' published 2026 rates.
What else changes the total
- Passenger age: children are priced by age. Hy-Line counts children from 5 to 12 and toddlers up to 4; the other operators have their own age bands.
- Round trips: on Hy-Line a round trip is cheaper than two one-ways. If your return date is open, book one way and add the return once you know the date.
- Bikes: every route on this site carries bikes for a fee; e-bikes count as bikes on Hy-Line.
- Season: the Provincetown and Vineyard ferries run from late spring to October, and demand around July and August weekends moves the price for your sailing.
FAQ prices
Price questions
Questions about fares and tickets.
What is the cheapest ferry on Cape Cod? +
The Island Queen from Falmouth to Oak Bluffs has the lowest from-price on this site, followed by Hy-Line's ferry from Hyannis to Oak Bluffs. Both are 35 to 60 minute crossings to Martha's Vineyard. The table on this page lists all routes side by side.
Do children pay less? +
Yes. Hy-Line prices children aged 5 to 12 at roughly 60 percent of the adult fare and has a separate age band for toddlers up to 4. The other operators have their own child fares; enter each age in the booking step.
Is a round trip cheaper than two one-ways? +
On Hy-Line a round trip costs less than two one-way tickets: the Nantucket fast ferry is 97 dollars return against 52 dollars each way. Book both legs together if your return date is fixed.
Do I pay extra for a bike? +
Bikes travel for a fee on most routes: Hy-Line charges 17 dollars round trip or 8.50 one way on all three of its routes, the Island Queen and Freedom Cruise Line also carry bikes. Add the bike in the booking step so a space is reserved.
Do I pay for parking at the ferry? +
Yes, at every mainland port. Hy-Line in Hyannis charges by season and lot, the Island Queen lot in Falmouth is 20 dollars a day in cash, and Freedom Cruise Line offers free day parking in Harwich Port. The port pages have the details.
